OUR STORY

A Cape Town Jewellery Legacy

Assique Jewellers is a family legacy built on craftsmanship, dedication, and generations of skill. Established in 1998 by Hashiem Saban, the journey began long before the doors officially opened. Hashiem started his career as a jewellery polisher, developing a deep respect for precision and detail.

Since then, Assique Jewellers has been crafting fine jewellery in Cape Town, creating handcrafted diamond rings, necklaces, and bracelets made with both natural and lab-grown diamonds. Each piece reflects our commitment to quality, timeless design, and the artistry that has defined our family business for decades.

Lab-grown vs natural diamonds

Lab-grown diamonds offer the same brilliance and durability as natural diamonds. At Assique Jewellers in Cape Town, we craft jewellery using both natural and lab-grown diamonds, combining modern innovation with traditional craftsmanship.

FAQs

How long does the custom jewellery design process take at Assique Jewellers?
Typically, a custom piece takes between 3 to 6 weeks from the initial consultation to final hand-finishing. This includes the 3D CAD design phase, where you can see a digital render of your piece, followed by casting in your choice of precious metal (gold, platinum, or silver) and expert stone setting. We prioritize precision over speed to ensure the structural integrity of your heirloom.

Yes. As manufacturing jewellers, we specialize in “remodeling” or “upcycling.” We can refine your existing gold and reset your family gemstones into a modern design. This is a sustainable way to preserve sentimental value while creating a piece that fits your current style.

Yes, we are proud members of the Jewellery Council of South Africa. This membership ensures that all our manufacturing processes meet the highest national standards for ethics, metal purity, and craftsmanship. When you buy from a registered manufacturer in the Western Cape, you are guaranteed the authenticity of your gold and gemstones.

We provide professional valuation certificates for all pieces manufactured in-house. For insurance purposes in South Africa, we recommend having your fine jewellery appraised every two years to account for fluctuations in the gold price and exchange rates.

9ct Gold: Contains 37.5% pure gold; it is the hardest and most durable, making it ideal for bangles or heavy-wear items.

14ct Gold: A perfect middle ground often used in high-end exports, balancing rich color with durability.

18ct Gold: Contains 75% pure gold; it has a deeper yellow luster and is the standard for high-end engagement rings and fine jewellery because it is less likely to trigger skin allergies.

To maintain the brilliance of your diamond, soak it in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 20 minutes. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently scrub the underside of the diamond where oil and lotions collect. Rinse under warm running water (ensure the drain is plugged!) and pat dry with a lint-free cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals like bleach or chlorine, which can pit the metal alloys.

Yes. Our workshop is equipped to handle everything from simple ring resizing and prong retipping to complex chain repairs and antique restoration. Because we are manufacturers, we perform these repairs on-site, ensuring your jewelry never leaves our secure premises.

The best method is to “borrow” a ring the person currently wears on the correct finger and bring it to our Western Cape studio for measuring. Alternatively, you can trace the inside circumference of the ring on a piece of paper. If the size isn’t perfect, we offer one complimentary resizing for most new custom engagement rings.
